Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), is a real adventure from beginning to end and due to the keenness of our students, Mayfield Grammar School is proud to have one of the largest units in Kent. Participants have the opportunity to progress through all levels of the award, learning and developing new skills along the way.
Students are offered the Bronze Award in Year 9, Silver in Year 10 and Gold in Years 11-13. All levels are highly recognised by universities and employers, as the award gives a clear indication of a student’s skill set, motivation and commitment.
- Volunteering: undertaking service to individuals or the community
- Physical: improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities
- Skills: developing practical and social skills and personal interests
- Expedition: planning, training for and completion of an adventurous journey in the UK or abroad
At Gold level an additional Residential section, which involves working and staying away from home doing a shared activity
With a large fully trained staff team, we are able to provide an in-house expedition programme.
